Behind every data point is a person breathing, working, living. For fifteen years I have carried exposure science the whole distance — into Europe's chemical regulations, global biomonitoring standards, industry practice and science-driven ventures — so evidence protects people, not shelves.

My mission is to carry science the whole distance — from the sample to the standard to the decision — so that no worker, no child, no community carries a chemical burden that evidence could have prevented. Knowledge that stops at publication protects no one. I make it act.

One generation from now, our chemical environment should be as measurable as the weather — open data, shared standards, decisions made with evidence, empathy and courage. That is the exposome decade. I intend to help build it: as a scientist, as a convener, and as a founder.

The story

From the lab bench to the negotiating table.

A PhD in exposure science at Wageningen. Guidance work at EFSA. PFAS epidemiology at Padua. Senior scientific officer at RIVM advising on Europe's landmark PFAS restriction. Exposure science inside global industry. And since 2018, chairing the international working group that sets the direction of human biomonitoring in Europe.

Every step taught the same lesson: evidence only protects people when it reaches a decision. MZJ is that lesson, turned into a practice.
